If you're reading this, you did it. You survived one year of the 2020 global pandemic. I still can't believe it's real.

I took these images throughout the month of April 2020, driving around in my car while home from work with my husband and daughters.

Black and white panorama of small town storefronts with a homemade sign visible in the distance.
Row of abandoned rural buildings and storefronts captured in monochromatic tones.
Dark storefront windows reflecting light in a moody black and white composition.
White clapboard building exterior with windows and light fixtures in black and white.
Black and white storefront signs and buildings line a commercial street at dusk.
Empty retail storefront with TJ Maxx signage visible in black and white.

The craziest thing is, looking back at these photos, I remember how eerie and surreal it felt. Now these photos feel totally normal. Although, can we go back to socially distant grocery lines?! Because, even when not in a pandemic, BACK UP BRO.

You probably spent the first few months of the pandemic whipping up some new recipes, catching up on home organization, endless crafts with your kids, downloading TikTok, facetiming with family, watching celebrities come together to create virtual Broadway shows to watch from your living room - all the good stuff. Then I'm sure you started feeling a sense of hopelessness. The unknown is what scared me most. Not the virus. Will things go back to normal? When will I go back to work? Can I live off of the money I have saved? Will life ever look normal to my children? Will they go back to school?

We celebrated both of our girls birthday's with a drive by, covid style. It's something I will never forget.

We were starting to desperately miss the outside world.

Here's to all the frontline workers, who worked endless, tiring hours to keep our communities safe.

Here's to the mothers and fathers who had babies during the pandemic.

Here's to all our loved ones that we lost.

Here's to every single one of you for powering through these terrifying times and coming out on the other side.

Much love.
