When I think about the session with Sophia and her family in East Hampton, the word that stands out the most is documentary. This wasn’t just about posed shots or perfect smiles. It was about real moments, raw emotion, and the quiet beauty of their family dynamics.

From the way Steve and Suzanne interacted, you could see the years of shared history, the comfort in each other’s presence, and the easy love that comes with 40 years of marriage. The photos captured them in their most natural state—laughing together, sharing stories, and holding hands with the kind of intimacy that only time can create.

Sophia’s niece and nephew brought an energy to the shoot that reminded me of how quickly time passes. As they ran around the yard, played with their grandparents, and hugged their parents tightly, I couldn’t help but think how these moments, however fleeting, are the ones you’ll look back on in the years to come.

These photographs aren’t just memories of an event—they’re windows into a chapter of their lives. What makes them truly timeless is that they aren’t staged or forced; they are a reflection of who they are, of the bond they share, and of the changes they’re experiencing together.

The beauty of a documentary approach is that it tells your story without interference. It captures everything—the little details, the big moments, and everything in between. And those are the moments that last. When you look back at these photos in the future, they won’t just remind you of how things looked, but how they felt—the laughter, the warmth, the joy of simply being together.

That’s what makes documentary photography special: it’s honest, it’s real, and it’s timeless. These images aren’t just for today—they’ll be cherished for generations to come, always bringing you back to this moment in time. And that’s the kind of photography I’m proud to create.
