Choosing the right spot for your session can sometimes feel like a big decision, but it really doesn’t have to be. Whether or not the place holds special meaning to you, there are so many beautiful spots on Long Island that can serve as a perfect backdrop for your photos. Here are some of my favorite places in Suffolk County where you can simply show up and let your moments unfold. No pressure—just beautiful spots that let you be yourselves.

Smith Point Beach, Shirley
If you're craving a beach session without the crowds, Smith Point Beach is a perfect choice. The dunes and boardwalk offer great textures, and there’s plenty of space to just enjoy the quiet, open ocean. It’s a no-pressure spot that lets you focus on each other, and if we time it right, we'll catch a gorgeous sunset.

Wildwood State Park, Wading River
For a more woodsy vibe, Wildwood State Park has a mix of wooded areas and peaceful shores. The bluffs + the calm, rocky beach makes for a serene backdrop. There’s no site fee, and parking is free after 4 p.m. It’s simple but beautiful.

Peconic River Herb Farm, Riverhead
If you want something more lush, Peconic River Herb Farm is gorgeous in the spring and summer. Think flowers, greenery, and the quiet flow of the river in the background. It’s an intimate setting with a lot of natural beauty + a beautiful glass greenhouse. The only thing to note is that they do have a site fee, but it’s worth it for how stunning the location is.

Greenport or Port Jefferson
For a mix of waterfront views and small-town charm, Greenport and Port Jefferson both hit the mark. These towns are full of character, with cafes, shops, and a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for any session. Both locations offer waterfront views with lots of boats!

Parrish Art Museum, Water Mill
If you’re after something a bit more artistic, the Parrish Art Museum offers a beautiful blend of modern architecture and natural light. It’s an elegant spot with a unique vibe, and the indoor and outdoor spaces make for a lot of versatility in your shoot.

Keep it simple, keep it you.
At the end of the day, it’s not about finding the most extravagant location—it’s about choosing a place where you all feel at ease and can truly be yourselves. Don’t forget places like your own home, your favorite local spots, or even a place that holds special memories for you. The perfect location for your session is one that feels authentic to who you are together. Don’t overthink it—just choose somewhere that reflects your vibe, and the rest will fall into place.
