Some moments are too beautiful to wait for perfect weather.

We had planned for golden light and a soft, warm breeze—one of those dreamy evenings where the sky melts into pastels. Instead, the clouds rolled in, heavy and thick, and the first drops of rain started to fall. We could have rescheduled. But instead, we went for it.

And I’m so glad we did.

There was something about the way Jalen held Julianne close, his hands resting on her belly like a quiet promise. She leaned into him, rain dripping down her arms, their laughter mixing with the steady rhythm of the storm. They weren’t worried about the weather or whether her dress was getting soaked—they were just there, completely present, taking in this moment before their baby boy arrived.

By the end of the session, we were drenched, hair sticking to our faces, clothes soaked through. But what stuck with me wasn’t the rain—it was the way Jalen cheered her on when she took some solo shots, the way she instinctively cradled her belly, the way they made the most of the moment instead of letting the weather take it from them.

Because love isn’t always picture-perfect. Parenthood won’t be either.

But it will be real. And that’s what matters most.
